Why Choose Invisalign?
When Invisalign was first introduced to the market in 2000, it heralded a revolution in orthodontics. It eliminated many of the complaints with traditional braces, such as the limited food options, sore inner cheeks, food getting caught in the wires, and of course, that "metal mouth" look.
Most orthodontic conditions can be treated with Invisalign. Although, there are cases of severe malocclusion that require complex movements and may be better treated with traditional braces.
How Invisalign works
Like conventional braces, Invisalign clear aligners work by applying subtle pressure to individual teeth until optimal alignment is achieved. Each week (or several weeks) you will receive a new set of aligners to wear. With each set of trays you complete, you are one step closer to achieving your desired outcome.
Your journey to a perfectly aligned smile starts with a consultation at Mora Dental Studio. Dr. Mora will evaluate the position and orientation of your teeth and then recommend an orthodontic treatment plan.
To craft your clear aligner trays we will first take detailed imaging data of your teeth. These digital files will then be used to create your custom clear aligner trays.
Once your first set of aligner trays arrive, we will schedule you in for a try-in session. During this appointment we will check to make sure your aligner trays fit precisely and are comfortable to wear. You can expect to feel gentle pressure from the trays, but they should still remain comfortable to wear for extended periods.
You will receive a new set of clear aligners on a regular basis, usually every week or two. It is important to wear your clear aligners whenever you are not eating, brushing, or flossing your teeth. This works out to around 22 hours per day.
At the conclusion of your treatment we may recommend you wear clear retainers to maintain the alignment of your teeth. Since teeth are held in place with periodontal ligaments and other tissues, there is always the risk they can slip back into their previous positions. Therefore, if your dentist recommends them, it is important that you wear your retainers as prescribed.
